Haitian-American Motivational Author Cindy Similien-Johnson Scheduled to Speak at the United Nations' African Union, Permanent Observer Mission on Transformational Leadership

Women business owners, entrepreneurs, students, and embassy representatives will convene in New York City for the SpeakingWombs Global Women’s Parliament at the United Nations’ African Union, Permanent Observer Mission (305 East 47th Street, 5th Floor, New York, NY 10017) on Thursday, April 30, 2015, from 5:30 p.m.- 8:45 p.m. The Parliament will be the first of its kind, and the theme is on transformational leadership.

SpeakingWombs was founded in 2013 by Ndalinoshisho N. Kashume, a filmmaker, writer and actress. She is the author of “Re-Define Our Existence,” a self-help book, and the novel entitled, “God Summons GaHabriel to New York City.” Because it’s the first of its kind, the discussion will serve as a source to cultivate, inspire, and facilitate future leadership. The format will be comprised of a world-style debate: first speaker, second speaker, and rebuttal in a three-part session with a keynote presentation followed with the exchange of ideas and thoughts to establish strategic solutions for transformational leadership. Members of the 2015 Parliament are professionals in the fields of Education, Law, Community Organizing, Government, Entrepreneurship, the Arts, Business, and Technology.

Haitian-American Motivational Author Cindy Similien-Johnson was invited to participate in the debate. She said, "I am delighted to be a part of this global discussion on the importance of women in leadership." Like all women entrepreneurs, she faces obstacles, and yet she perseveres with courage, tenacity, and a willingness to create opportunities not only for herself but also for others. In 2014, Cindy founded CSJ Media Publishing as a platform to use her gifts and talents in writing to enlighten, encourage, and empower individuals to live a life of purpose. She is the author of two books: "Goal Chic: Changing the World, One Goal at a Time" and "How to Stay Motivated: Inspiration and Advice for Everyday Living."

"We, as women leaders, play important roles not only in our communities but also around the world," she continued. "We bring life where there is death, hope where there is despair, and abundance where there is lack. Our contributions are not only vital in the organizations we help run but also in the fabric of humanity."

Other speakers include Marie Claudine Mukamabano, an orphan survivor of the 1994 Rwandan genocide and the Executive Director of Why Do I Exist/ Kuki Ndiho Rwanda Orphans Support Project; Helene Faussart, an independent artist and cultural entrepreneur, and the CEO of Nubiatik Publishing, LLC (Les Nubians' publishing label); and, Mutale Nkonde, CEO/Founder/Chief Visionary of Nkonde & Associates, a social enterprise which seeks to diversify the STEM industries through entrepreneurship and education.

Under the theme of “Gender Equality is Balance,” there will be a stimulating and analytical solutions-oriented discussion. It is the belief of SpeakingWombs that Transformational Leadership can be emulated and used in governments, civil society, and businesses. The program also addresses development and the critical role and balance among women, men and the youth as part of the decision-making bracket in Politics, Business, Technology, the Arts, and other fields of profession.
